The Process
Assessment: following the free 30 minute consultation and should you choose to continue with one of us, then we would start the assessment phase of our collaboration together.
This usually comprises of the following;
A meeting with either and preferably both parents/caregivers. Depending on how the first one goes, it is sometimes useful to have another session to gather a full picture of yourselves as a family.
Following this, we like to meet with the child/adolescent for at least two sessions to establish what the expected course of therapy might be.
We would then meet back with the parents/caregivers and/or child to review what we have been exploring and think about how we can best meet your needs.
Following this assessment phase and if together we believe that psychotherapy can help, then we would agree a mutually convenient time for sessions to start. Sessions are 50 minutes in length and are at the same time every week. The work can either be short-term between 10-14 sessions, or a longer piece of work perhaps 25 sessions or more.
Reviews: We will meet regularly to discuss how it is going and see ourselves as being a support to the parents as much as helping the child.
